We are not really ones for blowing our own trumpets here at NORTH but we felt that it might be good to share 'the doing of the good.' Times have been tough for many companies and their employees over the past two years as the economy took a dive, an economy that isn't showing a lot of resilience as we head into 2011. NORTH was lucky to get a few wins under our belt in 2010, and as well as working with our new clients while continuing to partner with our existing clients, we took some time out to do some pro-bono work for the Right Brain Initiative, this year's Rosey Awards and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.
We know we aren't the only company in Portland to do volunteer work or give to charity, thankfully many firms do just that. Like them we just feel it's the right thing to do to give back to the less fortunate in our community, so each year as part of our 'tis the season Holiday celebrations the NORTH team does a half day of volunteering in support of local community causes.
This year we decided to support Portland's Central City Concern whose mission statement is "to provide pathways to self-sufficiency through active intervention in poverty and homelessness." You can find out more here. It felt great to support such a wonderful organization who do so much to help the less fortunate to find their way back into society and a more meaningful life.
